    You can get exposure or infection of either hsv1 or 2 any place on your body. Hsv2 will usually not become symptomatic anywhere except the genital area (and Hsv1 in the oro facial area)or may become asymptomatic after 1 or 2 outbreaks. However, you will always shed partial virus dna from the sites of exposure which means a partner with no antibodies from previous exposure can become infected from contact.
